• Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUOMS) awarded Honorary Professor to Abbas Alavi, Professor of the Pennsylvania University and Poul Flemming Høilund -Carlsen, Albert Gede and Manouchehr Vafaei Professors of the Odense University, Denmark
2) Tabriz-Odense Memorandum of Understanding
-  Writing the first draft of the roadmap in Baku in April 2016 by Professor Poul Flemming Høilund -Carlsen, Dr. Seyed Kazem Shakoori) Dean of the School of Medicine and aging research institute of -  Tabriz University of Medical Sciences), and Dr. Manouchehr Vafaei
 - Editing the roadmap and approving the final version in September 2016
 - Signing a memorandum of understanding and a roadmap by both parties in December 2016
3) Holding annual Alavi meetings in September 2016 and October 2016 in the aging research institute of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
Two-day meeting with faculty members and students
 Presentation of more than 20 projects and selection of 5 projects after internal and external reviewing in each meeting
4) Implementation of 10 internationally approved projects in three annual Alavi meetings
o Each project has a domestic and Danish supervisor and is a Ph.D. thesis
Visiting the universities of Denmark and Tabriz by the faculty members of both universities
Visiting Tabriz University of Medical Sciences by:
Dr. Manouchehr Vafaei (Holding several different workshops on essay writing, imaging and neuroscience, participating in the first Alavi meeting, visiting Tabriz University of Medical Sciences following the Tabriz-Odense cooperation)
